Great news! My earlybird Thanksgiving holiday sale has begun! Because you deserve flowers all year long! The sale is on through Sunday, November 26, at midnight and is my thanks for all the beauty you’ve shared in our art journey together this year. Check out all the goodies here
This week my easel is facing a picture window overlooking the violet sunsets of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The natural light streaming in warms my paint to a buttery consistency. Filming these destination e-courses for you is always a discovery process: where to plug in the lights (is there a plug?), whether to tape filters over the windows, where to find solvent, what to do when the drone shuts down and parks itself on a mountaintop a mile away, and what on Earth is Chef Carlos cooking for dinner tonight (as smells waft in from the kitchen).
Finding a ranch house 10 miles outside of Santa Fe was perfect, less noise interference for the cameras, and having a videographer who has filmed in 20 countries and is super easy to travel with is a plus. What we didn’t expect was to find a dream come true casita, a meteor shower in a perfect night sky, and daily visits by the landlord’s three helpful four-footed friends, named Fawn, Night and Walter White. Our landlord was a makeup artist on the set of Breaking Bad, and named her big white Shepherd mix rescue pup after the main character for the show. There seemed to be quite a bit of industry here related to Breaking Bad when it was airing. All of these little unexpected surprises, but my artists’ eye never stops roving over the coral pinks, silver blues, and violet sunsets, cast shadows, adobe orange walls, turquoise jugs filled with flowers, and woven rugs in chocolate and maroon stripes throughout the home. The ranch house looks like something out of a movie set, with colorful kitchen chairs, an old farmhouse plank table and stained glass windows throughout.
I’ve shared some of my favorite scenes from our casita with you below, and we are already planning our next location to film a new destination ecourse for you. If you’ve got a favorite place to paint, a suggestion of where you would like your next ecourse to be based, please leave me a comment and let me know. I love hearing from you! PS: Paint Brilliant Santa Fe is coming your way next year!
